 # How to make Swedish meatballs

Swedish meatballs are a delicious and easy dish that can be enjoyed as a main course or an appetizer. They are made with a mixture of ground beef and pork, seasoned with spices like nutmeg and allspice, and cooked in a creamy gravy. Here is how you can make them at home.

## Ingredients

- 1/2 cup of bread crumbs

- 1/4 cup of milk

- 1 egg

- 1/4 cup of onion, finely chopped

- 1/4 teaspoon of salt

- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper

- 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg

- 1/4 teaspoon of allspice

- 1 pound of ground beef

- 1/2 pound of ground pork

- 2 tablespoons of butter

- 3 tablespoons of flour

- 2 cups of beef broth

- 1 cup of heavy cream

- 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce

- 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard

- Salt and pepper to taste

## Instructions

1. In a large bowl, combine the bread crumbs and the milk and let them soak for a few minutes. Add the egg, onion, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and allspice and mix well. Add the ground beef and pork and mix gently until well combined. Shape the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.

2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter and brown the meatballs on all sides, turning them carefully with a spatula. You may need to do this in batches. Transfer the meatballs to a plate and keep them warm.

3. In the same skillet over medium-low heat, whisk the flour into the remaining butter and cook for a few minutes, stirring constantly. Gradually whisk in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally.

4. Stir in the cream, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard and season with salt and pepper to taste. Return the meatballs to the skillet and coat them with the sauce. Simmer for about 10 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce is creamy.

5. Enjoy your Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes, noodles, rice, or bread.
